Enshrouded 1.0 Update: Every Change That Matters for Your Save

By Poodadoo Editors · October 27, 2026

Enshrouded left Early Access on October 15, 2026 with version 1.0.0.0. It adds Cinder’s Cradle as the final biome, raises the level cap to 50 (gear to 55), resets every skill tree on old saves, and finishes the main story. This page sorts Keen Games’ full changelog by how much each change affects play, and adds the three hotfixes released since.

The short version

  • New biome: Cinder’s Cradle, past the gates north of Veilwater Basin. A lava wasteland below and floating Ancient islands above. Keen puts its size between Blackmire and Veilwater Basin. It has 12 new Shroud Roots.
  • Caps: player level 50, gear level 55 when fully upgraded.
  • Flame: Flame Level 10 is needed to enter the new biome and raises the Flame Altar limit to 15. Beating the final boss unlocks Flame Level 11, which raises the limit to 16 and lets altars push back the Shroud.
  • Story: the main quest line is concluded.
  • Enemies: a new faction in Cinder’s Cradle with 14 enemy types. Counting new variants added to older factions, there are 37 new enemies.
  • Magic: 9 new spell types, extra tiers of old spells, and an Eternal (no-charge) version of every spell.
  • Sparkworks: a logic system for wiring switches, pressure plates, doors and traps in your base.
  • No crossplay at launch. Keen says it is in development, with no date.

What happens to an Early Access save

Old worlds and characters carry over. When you first load a save made in 0.8 or earlier, the game backs it up and converts it to the new save format. Two things reset:

  1. Your skill tree. All points are refunded and you have to spend them again. Do this before you leave your base.
  2. Custom keybindings. Several defaults changed (for example, dropping torches is now on R by default), so check your bindings.

Keen’s launch FAQ supports old saves but “strongly” encourages a fresh start, because the first hours of the game were reworked. If you are already in Veilwater Basin, keeping your save is fine. If you stopped in Revelwood, a new character will see the rework.

The hotfixes so far have mostly fixed save conversion:

  • 1.0.0.2 stopped a crash during conversion, but did so by skipping corrupted characters. If a character is missing from your list, Keen says a fix is coming.
  • 1.0.0.3 lets characters with bad entries in extra backpack slots convert, minus the items that broke it. It also moves Flame Altars that were placed outside the voxel grid. Water in those bases can’t be loaded and has to be placed again.

Local saves now live in C:\Users\<you>\Saved Games\keen games\Enshrouded\default, and the character and world menus have separate tabs for local and Steam Cloud saves. If a world seems to be missing, check the other tab.

Combat and class balance

These are the changes that affect builds. The full breakdown is in best builds for 1.0.

  • Wands now have a heavy attack from the start. New active skills: Aerial Wand Attack and Wand Evasion Attack. Wand specials can’t be interrupted by enemy hits anymore, there is a free-aim option, and you can shoot explosive barrels.
  • New skills: Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage, Survival Instinct, plus Airborne Architect (free-flying build mode) at the center of the tree.
  • Moved and adjusted skills: dagger skills moved from the Warrior area to the Assassin area. Veteran, One-Handed Specialization, Inner Fires and Snap had their position, cost or effect changed. Keen also says many skills got cheaper and stronger, without listing them all.
  • Heavy melee attacks hit several close enemies instead of only the first. Two-handed axe range was fixed.
  • Blocking now regenerates stamina and uses the camera’s direction.
  • Leech perks: percentage Health, Stamina and Mana leech was too strong late in 0.8. Early leech perks now use flat values, and percentage leech is limited to specific late-game gear.
  • Gems: Gem of Toxic Reaction buffed (+21% DPS at level 10, up to +65% at level 50). Gem of Battle Mania and Gem of Obsession nerfed. Gem of Lesser Necromancy now has a companion cap, and companions from Necromancy gems lose health outside combat.
  • Summon cap: if you summon more creatures than the limit allows, your oldest one is replaced.
  • Reaping perk: “greatly buffed”.
  • Shroud time: stacking Shroud-time extensions was nerfed. Hourglass Capsules are now much more common, also drop from large Fell, and give about 70% more time.
  • Fire Wisp scroll (hotfix 1.0.0.1): fixed at level 27. Before the fix it scaled with player level and was far too strong at endgame.

Enemies and bosses

  • Enemies now regenerate health over time after you leave combat, instead of resetting at once. If your party wipes on a boss and you return quickly, it will still be missing some health.
  • Enemies come out of stagger faster, search for you when they hear a noise, join fights nearby, and handle height differences better. Expect camps to be harder than they were in 0.8.
  • Damage resistances and weaknesses were reworked for many enemies. “Effective” now appears only when the target takes at least 20% extra damage, and “Resisted” only when it resists at least 20%.
  • Albaneve Summits boss: health cut substantially. It now has an exhausted phase on the walkable ground for melee damage, a bigger arena with more grapple anchors, and a back weak point that works for every weapon. Stun Arrows and Shock damage fill its stun meter much better.
  • Scavenger night patrols deal about 60% of their old damage. The Scavenger Matron’s poison area attack was reduced.
  • Enemies can now drop rings.

Crafting, loot and progression

  • Armor sets now unlock automatically for the next tier each time you upgrade the Flame. You can’t miss them by skipping a material pickup.
  • Flame Levels 6 to 9 need fewer materials, and Electric Organs and Poison Stings were swapped for more common resources. The full cost list is in the materials finder.
  • Recipes that used Springlands Stone now use the stone from their own biome.
  • Factories and cooking stations produce more and work faster. Farm animals are faster. Small plants grow faster and large plants grow slower.
  • Legendary gear now needs Legendary Runes one upgrade step later.
  • 24-slot chests and Magic Chests come earlier, and existing chests can be upgraded in place without emptying them.
  • Gem Forge: a new late-game base station.
  • Archaic Lockpicks: needed for higher-tier locked chests and doors, starting in Cinder’s Cradle.
  • Every chest type gets +5% legendary chance. Wooden chests can roll silver-level gear, and common items were removed from silver chest loot.
  • Gold Coins now drop from chests everywhere. Survivors trade vanity items for them.
  • Archaic Essence yield from mining is higher at every tier.
  • Fishing: any fish can be caught in any water if you use bait of its tier and a rod that can handle it. Improved bait guarantees the tier.

Quality of life worth knowing

  • Hold the interact button to pick up scattered loot nearby, or turn on auto-pickup in settings. This doesn’t cover containers, enemy corpses or quest items.
  • You can fast travel while sleeping in a bed.
  • Anvils in enemy camps now repair shields and wards.
  • If you are falling with no stamina, you can respawn mid-fall.
  • Quests are marked as difficult when the target area is 2 or more levels above you.
  • The Wisp of Light now lasts 10 minutes instead of 5.

What we have not verified

The changelog names new skills but not their numbers. Fan sites have pulled values from the game files (for example, Blast and Cast gives +50% base damage on the next staff attack within 10 seconds after a wand crit). We list those values on the builds page with their source, but Keen has not published them. Keen’s notes also don’t list XP-curve changes beyond moving the first two level-ups (the first now happens when you place your first Flame Altar, the second when you free the Blacksmith).

For the new region, see the Cinder’s Cradle guide. For leveling, see how to level fast in 1.0.
